Job Purpose:

A Design Engineer II will work on project teams to create industry leading designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including transmission & distribution, generation, institutional, industrial, and manufacturing facilities. They will work with a multi-disciplined project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion include electrical plans, sections, elevations, grounding, conduit, lighting, lightning, and AC/DC systems
  • Perform electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion include protection and control and wiring diagrams
  • Design electrical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers, customers, or industry standards
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
  • Research and compile project related data as required
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software
  • Compile information for shop drawing review, and contract administration
  • Performs field inspections, measurements or calculations
  • Participate in the QA/QC process
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering may be substituted for 1 year experience.
  • 1 year of electrical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Successful completion of FE or EIT preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Up to 10% travel required
