Job Title: Construction EHS Manager

Job Purpose:

The Construction EHS Manager is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment, and mitigating hazards on the job site. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols, industry standards, and the ability to assess and address potential risks proactively..

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential environmental, health and safety hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and Federal regulations.
  • Monitor construction site activities to ensure adherence to environmental, health and safety plans, standards, and best practices.
  • Review and coach site employees on the proper use of all safety equipment.
  • Collaborate with site managers, contractors, and workers to implement environmental, health and safety measures and improvements.
  • Prepare and enter reports on environmental, health and safety incidents, observations, leading and lagging indicators and corrective actions into appropriate business software.
  • Partner with site team to investigate accidents or near-miss incidents and recommend preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
  • Ensure proper signage, barriers, and equipment are in place, inspected to maintain a safe and healthy working environment for workers, contractors and visitors.
  • Educate and train workers on environmental, health and safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific environmental, health and safety plans.
  • Participate in all safety meetings including site and business related, providing input on safety improvements and concerns.
  • Partner with business EHS team to learn and implement best practices, policies and expectations.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred).
  • Certification in Occupational Safety (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR) preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction site safety or a related field, OSHA1926.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety regulations and risk management practices.
  • Strong observational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience with coaching and maintaining site accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., extreme heat, cold, or rain).
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb on construction sites for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in high and low places (e.g., scaffolding, trenches).
  • Ability to conduct site assessments and identify potential hazards.

Work Environment:

  • Construction sites, including both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • May require travel to different job sites within the United States.
