Job Title: Financial Operations Manager

Job Purpose: 

We are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Manager to drive cash flow optimization through strategic management of collections, vendor relationships, and purchasing operations. You will lead our AR/AP functions while implementing data-driven strategies to accelerate cash conversion and maximize working capital efficiency. This high-visibility role offers direct impact on our financial performance and growth trajectory.

Responsibilities

Cash Management & Collections

  • Develop and execute aggressive collection strategies with collection team members to minimize DSO and accelerate cash receipts
  • Analyze aging reports and customer payment patterns to proactively identify collection risks
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers to resolve payment issues and negotiate payment terms
  • Implement collection workflows and escalation procedures that protect cash flow while preserving customer relationships
  • Monitor daily cash position and forecast short-term liquidity needs

Vendor Management & Strategic Purchasing

  • Negotiate vendor payment terms and early payment discounts to optimize cash outflows
  • Evaluate and implement vendor financing programs and supply chain financing opportunities
  • Partner with procurement teams to establish purchasing policies that balance cost savings with cash flow timing
  • Manage vendor relationships to secure favorable credit terms and resolve payment disputes

Team Leadership & Process Excellence

  • Lead, develop, and manage AR/AP specialists to achieve departmental KPIs
  • Design and implement process improvements that reduce manual effort and increase accuracy
  • Establish metrics dashboards tracking DSO, DPO, collection effectiveness, and cash conversion cycle
  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline invoice processing and payment workflows

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis for leadership team
  • Track and report on key metrics: DSO, DPO, collection rates, and working capital turns
  • Collaborate with accounting and FP&A teams on month-end close and financial reporting
  • Support audit processes and maintain SOX compliance for relevant processes

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in AR/AP or financial operations roles, with demonstrated expertise in cash management, collections, and vendor management
  • 2+ years experience managing people and cross-functional processes, with proven ability to drive team performance
  • Strong track record of improving DSO, collection rates, and working capital metrics
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (Great Plains, Infor, Oracle or similar)
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to influence others to drive change
  • Excellent negotiation skills with both customers and vendors
  • Analytical mindset with ability to identify trends and drive process improvements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in services or project-based businesses
  • Experience with automated AR/AP systems and electronic payment platforms
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or similar
