Job Summary:

The Sr. Relay Engineer performs and supervises electrical testing, maintenance and troubleshooting relays in electrical power stations. Your duties involve using relay test equipment and tools to test several types of relays inside the electrical substation. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform tests and commissioning of protection equipment and protection boards in substations.
  • Modify, maintain, or repair electronics equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Replace defective components or parts, using hand tools and precision instruments.
  • Set up and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems.
  • Compile and maintain records documenting engineering schematics, installed equipment, installation or operational problems, resources used, repairs, or corrective action performed.
  • Design or modify engineering schematics for electrical transmission and distribution systems or for electrical installation in residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
  • Work with a team or individually in the field. Position to be performed at various unanticipated locations throughout Florida.
  • 75% travel required to utility substations throughout Florida with occasional out of state domestic travel.
  • Remote work available.
  • Position will report to local office in Sanford, FL.

 

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of experience.
  • Must have experience in the following skills:
    • Protection schemes for power circuits and other power system components
    • Installation, commissioning, testing, and function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers and circuit breaker change-outs
    • Ability to analyze event records and make informed deductions
    • Develop Commissioning and Energization Procedures
    • Project management for large scale and complex projects including maintaining good customer relationships;
    • Troubleshooting power system/substation components.
